Parents challenge schools' authority Monday, September 10, 2007 (375 reads)

A policy granting school officials in the Amphitheater Public Schools the authority to question students about school matters is being challenged by parents.
A group of parents — some with children who were questioned by Coronado K-8 School administrators concerning a middle-school wrestling coach — want the district's Student Interviews, Searches and Arrests policy changed.
The coach, Richard Clark, was fired Feb. 21 after Coronado administrators interviewed five members of the school's wrestling team.
We talked with the fired coach and parents of students about the issue of school district authority over students.
