I want to say thanks for all the support that I have recieved over the past week. Sponsors, station staff and most importantly the listeners. There is only so much that I can do in this issue and while I promise to never give up the fight there is a time when you need to step back and let the powers that be have their say.

Much has been made over the July 10th Joe Arpaio Book Signing at the Barnes and Noble. I felt it best to stop and remember how this entire situation started in the first place. Below is a time line of articles, audio and video of the actions taken by the protesters and the Pima County Legal Defender. I need to make one point crystal clear. As I have said since day one, this is not about whether or not the protesters, Isabel Garcia, Derechos Humanos or anyone else had the right to protest. The 1st Amendment of these United States grants them the right to protest and they had permission to do so in the parking lot at Barnes and Noble. I never called their right to protest into question, they can and should protest whenever they want, that is what makes our country great, FREE SPEECH. This issue is, was and always will be whether or not the conduct of a Pima County Legal Defender/Lawyer, who salary is paid for by the taxpayer was appropriate.

In the wake of the story we had an article written by the liberal editorial writer at the Tucson Citizen.Denogean: Protesters as offensive as Sheriff Arpaio
In the story Isabel Garcia was quoted as saying:
Garcia told me Friday that she thought the Arpaio piñata was great, although she said it wasn't brought in by organizers.....
"I think it's a fair expression of First Amendment rights. I thought it was funny.... And it's a piñata. It was a fun thing for the kids that broke it," she said. Garcia said she "wouldn't sweat it all" if someone were to bash a piñata in her image....

After having Joe Arpaio on the show Monday July 7th Joe held a book signing at Barnes and Nobel. The border rights group Derechos Humanos, led by Pima County Defender Isabel Garcia held a protest outside of the Barnes and Noble with members and supporters of Derechos Humanos. What you will witness in the below exclusive 104.1 The Truth Jon Justice Show video footage are protesters beating to a pulp a likeness of Joe Arpaio. This was a completely unprovoked act of violence by a group that describes
themselves, from their own website: Coalición de Derechos Humanos ("The Human Rights Coalition") as a grassroots organization which promotes respect for human/civil rights...

What you will also see is the taxpayer funded Pima County Legal Defender and Derechos Humanos Co-Chair Isabel Garcia joyfully holding a likeness of the severed head of Joe Arpaio calling 104.1 The Truth vicious. They also chanted "Jon Justice go home, we don't want you here!" This is a Pima County Legal Defender gladly displaying the likeness of a beheaded Arizona Law Enforcement agent, and others beating the likeness of an elected member of Arizona Law Enforcement.

"As an officer of the court and a person in a position of public trust, her actions reflect poorly on Pima County," Arpaio said.

TO:PlMA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
MEMORANDUM Chuck Huckelberry
FROM: Ann Day b
DATE:July 15, 2008
RE:Legal Defender
ANN DAY
SUPERVISOR, DISTRICT 1

I just watched the YouTube video of Pima County Legal Defender Isabel
Garcia's actions at a recent protest at the Barnes and Noble bookstore.
Several citizens have also contacted my office to voice concerns. And while
I certainly respect Ms. Garcia's First Amendment right to free expression,
her behavior in the context of county employment raises some concerns for
me and I would ask that you report back to me on the following areas.

(1) Ms. Garcia is frequently in attendance during county business hours at
protests, press conferences and other events that have no relation to her
county employment. I would like an accounting of her time and an
explanation as to whether you, as the county administrator with direct
supervision of county employees, feel Ms. Garcia's actions are detracting
from the time she should be working on county business or her job
performance.

(2) It is my opinion that her actions at the Barnes and Noble event bring
discredit to Pima County. I would like an explanation from you what
employee policies or guidelines, if any, currently address this type of
behavior in the context of her employment.

(3) If no policies address the issue raised above, I would like Human
Resources to provide me with a brief survey of how other jurisdictions
address employee actions in similar circumstances.

-Derechos Humanos for all! Except Arpaio?
I wonder how Isabel Garcia, the leading immigrant rights figure in Tucson, would react if the secure-the-border-only crowd were to burn her in effigy. Or if the deport-all-illegals screamers were to hang a paper mache figure meant to represent an illegal immigrant.
Somehow, I think her outrage would be prompt, loud, shrill and, frankly, justified.
So, how is it that Garcia stood by, smiling and laughing, while the protesters she organized beat a pinata meant to resemble Sheriff Joe Arpaio to a pulp last night as Arpaio conducted a book signing inside the Barnes and Noble on East Broadway?
Garcia, as most of you probably know, heads a group called Derechos Humanos — human rights. The group purports to stand up for the civil rights and basic dignity of all human beings. I guess in their eyes Sheriff Joe doesn't count as a human being.

Derechos Humanos, KQTH Host Do Battle
I just wanted to point out how I continue to be impressed by other media outlets in town who are not usually known for covering news. AZBIZ.com did a nice fair piece a few weeks back and now the Media Watch over at the Tucson Weekly covers the story we have been in the middle of better than I have seen any other media in town. This restores some of my faith that all is not lost when it comes to getting proper news coverage. I think it also says a lot that it's the little guy doing it better and more extensive then the big guy.

Pima County taxpayer-funed attorney involved in effigy beating

I actually stumbled across this story from the Joe Higgens campaign website while looking to see what latest tales were being spun about me in regards to the Isabel Garcia controversy. I do not know Joe nor am I familiar yet with his run for Pima County Supervisor. I do know that I was immediately impressed by what I saw on his website and was happy to see that he was not at all afraid to put his opinion of Isabel Garcia front and center on his page. He says he is for leadership not politics and I say AMEN to that. I am hoping to have Joe on really soon to find out more about this candidate. Until then, hats off to Joe Higgins for not being afraid to take a stand when so many in the positions of power sit on their collective hands.

Sadly, for every Joe Higgins there are plenty Dan Pattersons ready to continue the power politics we are currently suffering from. Which brings me to todays members of the Never Ending Parade of Stupid.

In USA, Isabel Garcia has free speech right on Joe

Driving the Liberal Trolley in todays parade is the aforementioned Dan Patterson running as Democrat for something, I don't really care what. You want to know why we have idiots like Isabel Garcia appointed into positions of power? it's because idiots like this guy Dan Patterson who get elected. Seriously this guy is running for office and based his little blog off a total lie. No one ever said it was not within Isabels free speech right to protest, it was her conduct given her position in Pima County. Check out this little quote from his blog:
"It's fine to criticize Isabel if you don't agree -- she's tough and can take it -- but show some respect for her use of our American free speech rights. After all, it's your rights too."
Show some respect Dan? Really? Just like the respect she showed Barnes and Noble for protesting infront of their store, like the respect she showed law enforcement by encouraging children to beat up an effigy likeness of law enforcement, just like the respect she showed to the children in the parking lot who had to witness this woman laughing while holding a severed head in her hand? Did you watch the video Dan? Have you listened to my show Dan? Somehow I doubt it. This guy is a hack politician pulled off the shelf of the same five and dime local Democrat Pawn shop that gave us Rodney "how does this effect my political career " Glassman.  Please people wake up and keep guys like Dan Patterson from getting elected.

Obama in Iraq: Withdrawal support but no timetable

So the big question floating around the blogsphere today was "is the media giving Obama preferential treatment?" So after I stopped laughing I answered in my head a resounding yes! Like that was even worthy of asking the question. Where does one start with examples? I believe at this point all we need to do is point to "The Obama Foreign Tour '08." Over the weekend news "broke" that officials in Iraq favored Obamas plan to withdraw the troops. Even if it were true, which it wasn't and I'll explain in moment, this would still mean that we only got to the point where we could pull troops out because of what Republicans did, not Obamas plans all along. Had Obama had his way the troops would have been pulled out last year. At this very time in July 07 Obama was out stating how the surge had failed and that the war was all but lost. I don't see the media grabbing onto that little sound bite now that the surge is over and it worked. As far as Iraq agreeing with Obama, they didn't really. Obama simply spun his opinion based off what Iraqi officials were already saying. In the article above the Iraqi officials said there would be no timetable but they hoping the troops would be out for the most part by 2010. This would be echoing what Pres Bush and McCain have been saying all along. So did the media change it's story to let everyone know that Iraq never endorsed Obama? I watched most of the mainstream media today and it was mentioned in passing at best. The blogs have all but removed any links to the big "Iraq supports Obama" links from over the weekend.  The story is out there but the media isn't pushing it. They push Obama when it's positive and the bury it when it's negative for the most part. I think the real question is "Is the media trying to support Obama for ideological reasons, or just for ratings?"

Is 'The Dark Knight' too dark for kids?

Everyone is talking about the Dark Knight, myself included. This is the first movie in a long time that I want to be sure I see in the theater again. One of the big questions coming out of the movie - Is it too dark for kids? The answer in my opinion is yes, but that doesn't apply to all kids. Personally I think that any kid under age 8 maybe even 9 shouldn't see this movie. There really isn't any need for them to see it and run the risk of being disturbed by the material. Now that may be up for debate as I know some parents who have 8 and 9 years olds that have watched plenty of horror movies and this really is more on the psychological horror than any major gore. Now as far as the ages above 9 years old lets say, that really is a choice the parents must make. I don't feel the rating of PG-13 needs to be changed because as parents you should be doing your homework if you're planning on taking your child. The film, as I mentioned in yesterdays blog, is really as good as everyone is saying, even after 2 days from seeing it the film is still fresh in my mind. The movie is the anti-Titanic, in the sense that everyone who didn't return for repeated viewings of Titanic will be returning to see the doom-laden world of the Dark Knight. The creators of the film really struck gold by releasing a movie that views our society through a pair of very dark pessimistic glasses. At a time when most Americas looking at the world through a pair of very dark pessimistic glasses they, will come back to see The Dark Knight over and over. After all misery loves company.

5-Year-Old Driving Jet Ski Alone Critically Injured In Lake Crash

Speaking of parents making good choices for their children comes this tale. In what world does a parent either a) think it's ok for their kid to power a jet ski or b) have their kid out of sight long enough for their 5 year-old to hop on board a jet ski and go tearing off across the lake. We had a chance to speak to a group of child safety advocates trying to spread the word about the dangers of kids in cars. They have a slogan: "ZERO SECONDS," as in, you shoudn't leave your child unattended in a vehicle ever. ZERO SECONDS is something we all as parents should keep in the back of our minds at all times.

Group claims playground equipment too hot

And lastly in our trio of kids stories comes this one out of NY. I have a really easy solution for anyone who thinks that playground equipment may get too hot in the summer heat. Don't let your kids play on it.

Andrew's random video for Tuesday: OK, this goes on for far too long, but it's worth checking out.  I'd try this in my own house, but I think my wife would beat me over the head with our mixer, and that things heavy.

JOKER LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO BANK: 'Dark Knight' Breaks Eight Film Records

I love seeing examples of people wanting to be a part of something. It gives me hope that with the right motivation and sense of belonging that people will still go out of their way to be a part of something. Movies like The Dark Knight that can draw people out in droves in the dead of night, dressed ridiculously just to be one of the first to see the movie says more about our culture than it does the quality of film in my opinion. Now of course the movie is the motivating factor, but it's that sense of being a part of something that really matters. Even I wanted to be able to see The Dark Knight first thing on Friday just so I could be one of the people who has "seen" it and can talk about it. I ended up seeing the 10am Saturday morning at Tower Theaters with Melinda. It was still packed that morning by the way. People don't like to wait already and we are a very impatient society, but that still doesn't account for why The Dark Knight will be one of the biggest films of all time. The movie has become an event and in the middle of an election that people are bored with and the the lack of leaders that are able to excite people about anything, The Dark Knight came at the right time. The movie is dark, uncomfortable, and down right great. It really is a reflection of what we are all looking for, the light at the end of the tunnel, the dawn breaking on a truly new day. And while the movie is the thing that people are going to see, you cannot discount the plain and simple fact that people are just simply longing to be part of anything that gets them out of the day to day frustrations, while still reminding them that it could be so much more worse. You could be living in Gotham City and the Joker could be real. I'll be damned if he didn't seem real in that movie. Getting back to my original point. The fact that The Dark Knight will pull in millions gives me hope that if people are inspired that they will still go out of their way to get involved, even if it is dressing up silly for the midnight showing of a movie that will be out for weeks to come. By the way, keep the kids at home from The Dark Knight. Melinda and I were truly disturbed by the amount of little kids in the theater. This is an adult psychological horror film, that kids just don't need to be exposed to. They have TUSD and college to get plenty of that.

In just one year, TUSD lost items that cost $1.6M

Speaking of TUSD, in any other school district this would seem outrageous, but not TUSD. At TUSD anything is possible. Imagine you're working for a company that says to you, "We have to lay off jobs, cut programs and equipment because we are 1.6 million over budget." Then when you ask where the money went they say, "We don't know, a lot of stuff can't accounted for, it's all lost".  This is another shining example of the lack of follow through and accountability within our local governments. I mean seriously, 71 TVs, 5 commercial sized freezers, how in the hell do you lose those? The sad part is there will be no followup, no mass investigations. There will be this story, me talking about it, and then we are off to the next story. In the meantime our local papers do nothing, no hard hitting investigating, no further follow up and they show no outrage. The people of Tucson have got to wake up and see that unless we have clean break from the current leadership in Pima County, Tucson City Council, TUSD then we will make no progress and the city of Tucson itself will continue to rot from within. I personally don't want to see that happen. We could be such a great city if we just got off our butts and took the time to tell ourselves, friends and family how important our local elections are. We need to start making a difference.

Have Oil Prices Peaked? Crude Plunges $16 in 3 Days

Gee have you seen this headline plastered everywhere? Nope and that's because we dare not let people know that maybe just maybe it ain't all as bad as the media had been telling us. Now I know we have yet to see the return of lower prices at the pump, but they are coming. Plus the reason behind the barrel price drop is the story. President Bush started hounding Congress to drill offshore and guess what, the Middle Eastern oil companies took notice. Imagine what would happen if Congress actually did something and allowed us to get at our own oil supply?

9/11 billboard draws flak from Florida Democrats, GOP

Alright I may ruffle some feathers on this one, but personally don't have a problem with this billboard. I would hate for anyone to be offended by someone trying to use the image of 9/11 for publicity, but the reality is that the Democrats have tried to have us all forget 9/11 for years now. Personally anytime the American public can be reminded of those awful days is a good thing. We have all forgotten what it means to lose that sense of security in our country. The reality is Pres. Bush has kept us safe since 9/11. The reality is that the majority of the wackos that think 9/11 was an inside job are Democrats/liberals who have been blaming 9/11 on Bush for years as well. One billboard in my opinion comes nowhere near the lack of respect given to the victims of 9/11 by Democrats and maybe even it is justified for that reason alone.

Obama calls criticism of wife 'infuriating'

This one is easy. Obama has no room to be upset for anyone criticizing Michelle since he made the choice to have her on the campaign trail making speeches on his behalf. If she were not campaigning and saying stupid things in public then, yes I would believe he may be more justified in his frustration. The other thing I find interesting about this is that I wonder how long this article has been sitting with the editors? The reality is that Michelle has been out of the spotlight for her election comments for awhile and I would imagine that the Obama camp is none too happy that this is back in the news.

They're stealing your trash

While I haven't seen this happening here I did witness it first hand while in California on vacation. Actually it was quite amusing as it was kind of like a spectator sport to see how long it would take a bunch of crap my Dad has in his garage to be removed from his sidewalk out front. And it wasn't like they just grabbed the stuff on top, nope they went DIGGING....it was pretty gross actually. So while I do feel a little uncomfortable with people even going through my trash as it feels like a minor violation of privacy, I suppose as long as it's being hauled away then it's somewhat justified.

Napolitano wants four-day work week study

So one must assume that the logic of turning everything off on Friday for 8 hours won't do anything if all your doing is turning the lights on for a total of 8 extra hours Monday-Thurs? So I'll admit there must be something else that is saving energy because that just makes no sense. However, one must look at the plain and simple fact that unless you are actually cutting down on the actual work being done then shifting the time will just shift the energy out put. I know lets make sure we don't work on rainy or overcast days and just not turn the lights on at all. Whatever happened to the simple methods of turning the lights off when you leave a room. Or letting technology do it's job and have the computers go to standby mode more often then they do now. I have been hearing about saving energy since I understood what the words meant and we keep seeing these little schemes like 4 day work weeks pop up that never really do you much good. Another thought on the 4 day work week, if someone calls in sick your productivity just dropped 2 hours more than it would have in a 5 day work week. If companies really want to save energy then they should do a better job at hiring people who can multi-task and cut the daily works hours down. I know what a novel idea, but like that will ever happen.

An Air Car You Could See in 2009: ZPM’s 106 MPG Compressed-Air Hybrid

Sure it gets great gas milage, just drive it on a windy day? Is this the answer to the gas woes we face? To be honest who knows and right now it's not and it's far off before we know if it will be. However it is nice to see that there are options being thought of that in a matter of years may become the standard. The one thing that keeps sticking out in my mind is that fact that you still have to buy a new car in the end when we do find the next alternative fuel source answer. Not everyone will be able to do that and not even the majority of people will be able to do that. All this comes right back around to the plain and simple fact that we need to drill at home and start drilling now. Oil is still our blood and we can replenish our own lifeline if our the liberals in Washington would let us

Poll Finds Voters Split on Candidates' Iraq-Pullout Positions

I was afraid of this situation and it's one that was totally unavoidable. The situation is one that has us winning the war in Iraq at a time that favors the policies the left has been pushing. Now before you fall out of your chair allow me to explain. First of all we are beginning to see the media play up just how well things are going in Iraq. Our brave men and women have been doing an amazing job and we will win this war. Now we are hearing rumors of more troop withdrawals and timetables possibly being set. These are all great things in the grand scheme of things. However unless John McCain bangs the drum loud and hard that we are ONLY winning because we DIDN'T do what the liberals wanted us to do, the left will skew  the facts and take advantage of the success in Iraq to sweep Obama into office. If we did things the way Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the bunch wanted we would be looking at a catastrophe in Iraq. The country could have easily fallen into the hand of Iran and/or Al Qaeda. Instead we can now begin to look towards the future where we don't have to have the large amounts of US forces there. But the Dems have taken ownership the words "timetable" and "withdrawal" for so long that any time they are mentioned you can't help but think of the liberals and in the back of the minds of so many they will give Dems the credit. Bush and McCain cannot allow this to happen. We cannot allow this happen. The Dems in Washington staked their reputation on defeat in Iraq, we must not let them lay claim to our Victory!

New Wal-Mart in Oro Valley to hire 350

So you may notice if you click the link that it takes you to the comments portion of the story. I did that because that's the real story and it's always the real story when you talk about a new Wal-Mart anywhere within a 100 mile radius of Tucson. The headline could have read "New Wal-Mart plans to give out free pills that cure cancer" and the comments would still be "WAL-MART IS BAD!" What's the big fear here people? The 350 new jobs, the variety of products, the low prices, the usual food court and hair stylist? Maybe it's the little family photo shop that allows parents to get cheap pictures of their children with the obligatory barn yard backdrop? Maybe it's just because people are really that big of elitist snobs that they can't seem to wrap their heads around why someone would ever want to shop in a big box that dare expose their overhead duct work and pass the savings onto the consumer? Wanna know why I love Wal-Mart? Because where else can I get new glasses, a haircut, 4 new tires for my car, a slab of beef, a ficus plant, a lawn chair, socks, fishing gear, a flat screen TV, a shot gun, and a family portrait photo all in less than an hour!

Barack Obama: Your Children Should Learn To Speak Spanish

So first Obama says we should be having our kids learning Spanish and then he uses the example of not knowing French? So how many languages are the legal residents and citizens of our nation supposed to know anyhow? My children should not be required to know Spanish, but others should be required to know English, we are still America and English is indeed the predominate language. This pandering to gain acceptance of the Latino vote is coming at a price and it's not about patriotism, it's about priorities. Why does it have to be the fault of the American people all the time? To suggest that "Spanish speaking Latinos will learn English so don't worry about it" is ludicrous when we here on a local level face battle after battle of just how we are going teach and fund ESL programs. If kids in the schools are not learning English, Obama is extremely naive to think that the parents of these Spanish speaking children are going to teach it at home. For Obama to suggest that my children learn Spanish is an insult to me as an American and a parent. Will anyone bother asking if his kids speak Spanish or French since he seems to keen on allowing them to be a part of his campaign by doing tabloid TV interviews.....

Obama calls ‘Access Hollywood’ interview a mistake

Oh, but he is Barack "Black Eagle" Obama and he can and will always be given forgiveness when he does something stupid like using his children to further his Oval Office dreams. No matter how you slice how and why his children came to interviewed by Access Hollywood it says volumes about Obamas judgment or lack thereof. Barack and Michelle sat down to be interviewed by Access Hollwood. It wasn't like Access Hollywood cornered their children for an interview without them knowing. This was calculated and it just goes to show what lengths Obama will go to gain exposure by using his own children to further his political future, even after saying he would keep them out of his campaign. I really try to be objective about this guy and not make the mistakes that I see so many on the right make by going after him on petty issues. But both this "mistake" and the fact that Obama believes that Americans are the ones who should be making concessions to foreigners just continue to show over and over how inexperienced, misguided and yes dangerous this man of Hope and Change is.

Tucson police officer fatally shoots biting dog

First off why is it that the AZ Star headline writers always choose phrasing that makes the police officer sound like they were in the wrong?  Every time!  It's never "Angry dog dies while biting police officer," or "Police officer defends himself against attacking dog," etc.. Yes I am nitpicking but then again the paper did decide this story warranted coverage. Which brings me to the next question. Why is this even a story? Out of all the events that local law enforcement are involved in today why is it this one makes the news. Because a doggie died and we must always talk about shootings and animals, right? This is a non story that serves no purpose what so ever to the public. So what if an officer had to defend himself against a dog and the dog died? That police officer did what he had to do and the mean doggie paid the price. As the story says there will be an internal investigation, there always is as far as I know when an officer uses his weapon. But seriously, with all that our local law enforcement do to serve and protect can we please not make an issue over this. Crap happens and anyone else would have done the same thing.

Obama to accept nomination at 76K-seat stadium

So how do you create an event that will get everyone enthusiastic and wrapped up in hype when you have little substance to offer? You make plans to create a rock concert style event that will be covered and talked about for weeks leading up to it and you do it in a football stadium. I could care less that Obama has an ego so big he feels obligated to allow his worshippers a chance to come to his self proclaimed speech to end all speeches. The bottom line is that it will be a massive event, it will bring people all kinds of hope for change in the future and make people enthusiastic for a day. But will that translate to votes? Will the hype of one event extend out for the remaining 68 days after leading to the Nov election? Hope and change is all but gone from Obamas campaign and this event will probably bring it back for a few days. If this election has shown us anything it's that things can change on a dime with a poll or a debate. Will ObamaFest 08 make a difference in whether he wins or loses? Probably not. Does an event like this hurt John McCain? Yes in as much as I doubt John McCain could fill up anything near the size of Denver stadium, but who is to say Obama will either?

New Cars in California Must Display Global Warming Score

Here is your Never Ending Parade of Stupid story for a Tuesday. How lucky are the people of California that they get to proudly drive around their new cars with little stickers displaying the ignorance and lie being perpetuated by those on the left in the name of Global Warming. It's a Global Warming warning label, along the same lines of the Parental Advisory labels on CD's. You can now either drive around feeling good because your car is a perfect 10 or be ashamed because you are such a horrible person that your car rating is only 5. Can I please get the new car with a 1 rating just so I can make the elite on left mad?

I don't usually set out to blog or talk about stories by thinking, "Hmm today we should talk about immigration." I choose to blog or discuss topics simply because they interest me, and they may or may not always be as important or interesting to the listener or blog reader. Today I have two different immigration stories that I came across while working on the show. They really highlight the problem we face with illegal immigration and it's not the problem that the people who wrote the stories would like you to believe. In this first article we hear about the sad tale of children whose parents broke the law and now they have to suffer for it. The harsh reality is that this is the responsibility of the parents who decided to put their children at risk of this abandonment. We do have programs in place to help children who are citizens but whose parents are here in the country illegally and are then appropriately deported. Now as this article clearly shows not all these children are taken care of under the government care. These children in my opinion, while it's sad, are victims of war. A war on illegal immigration and until we start acting and treating this like war we are going to get nowhere. Sympathy is a luxury we cannot afford when we are faced with an illegal immigration problem so large that billions are wasted and the sovereignty of these United States is threatened on a day to day basis both internally and externally.

Immigration: Why Prudencia died

(picture taken from the Tucson Citizen)
The second story is a lovely little history lesson that is supposed to make us feel some type of compassion for an individual who died fleeing Guatemala because of the authors assertion that US led operations forced them to flee. While the history is indeed interesting and might actually be true, I fail to see how there is anyone but this individual that needs to be held responsible for her death in the desert. The first question you could ask is that if she was indeed fleeing Guatemala then why didn't she just stay in Mexico? The author says it's because her boyfriend was here. Ok, fair enough but.....if it was the US involvement in military operations forced her to flee her homeland than why in the world would anyone with half a brain want to risk their life by crossing the desert into the very country that wronged them in the first place? All of these arguments are meaningless in the face of the reality that regardless of your reason, race, gender, religion etc. - if you come across that border illegally you are breaking US laws and are at the risk of the elements. Just as much as I would be if I decided to take a walk thru the Sonoran Desert without water and died from the heat.  Once again sympathy is a luxury we cannot afford when we are faced with an illegal immigration problem so large that billions are wasted and the sovereignty of these United States is threatened on a day to day basis both internally and externally. The most compassionate thing that could ever be done for anyone who has, will, or is planning to cross that border is to seal it up tight with a wall 100 feet tall and enforce the laws we have to their fullest extent. When the US takes the steps needed to stop the flow of illegals and force those here illegally out then we can talk about a need, if any, for immigration reform.

-Put a stop to the racism in TUSDs Ethnic Studies by supporting R- Rep. Russell Pearce and Senate Bill 1108. This bill seeks to ban teaching in public schools that would “denigrate American values and the teachings of Western civilization.” Go to www.azleg.gov   and email the legistlators to support the bill. Tell them your tired of your tax dollars funding this hate in our public schools.
