McCain acknowledges global warming and urges nuclear power to combat it

John McCain is certainly not going to make this easy on conservatives. Sadly he is playing the Bush strategy of saying he believes in Global Warming but then touting that he will do things like Nuke power to combat it. McCain is going to walk that fine line of trying to make both the left and right happy. Sadly, many on the right will have to use the excuse "well he is better than Obama". To be honest I am not sure McCain can win this election unless he panders to the Global Warming crowd and the Open Border groups. I wish it were not true, but most of us are seriously going to have to Suck It Up in 08! The truth is, that regardless of who wins in November the real battle will be for Congress - we need that back in Republican control or we are in for a world of hurt..
Remember the election in 2006?
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
Super Bowl wasn't a windfall

Just be glad this is Phoenix and not Tucson. Situations like this is where the cliche "Be careful what you wish for" came from. Probably more to the point is that sometimes what seems to be the best thing in the world just isn't. Who would have thought that the Super Bowl would have ended up costing the city money? From the outside looking in it seems logical to believe, especially given the "facts" of how many dollars the NFL generates, that the Super Bowl would be a huge cash cow. What is interesting is how it seemed no one bothered to look at the businesses that were put in place just before the Super Bowl arrived. This seems to be a circumstance that just could not be avoided. However it is a great example of how the local tax payer needs to be involved in enough in local politics to head this off at the pass. Even with something that seemed so obvious a revenue stream like the Super Bowl, the tax payer lost money in the end.
Andrew's random video for Tuesday: I wish I would have found this before Mothers Day, but it needs to be shared nonetheless. The message is just too important...
