Saudi Arabia Arrests 701 Al Qaeda-Linked Militants Plotting 'Oil Attacks'

So if Al Qaeda sees potential to harm the US by damaging Saudi oil production, and we have a Congress that still won't allow the US oil companies to drill for our own oil, then what does that say about Congress? Without turning this into a "Congress supports terrorists" argument, it is an interesting scenario. Our enemies know they can hurt the US via attacks on our oil supply, and yet we have the capabilities to remove the threat entirely, if we could just get at all the oil the US has at it's disposal. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to throw something at my TV when some Senate Democrat spouts the lines "It would take 20 years and we can't wait that long, we must look for alternative energy." First off that 20 years is a stretch and I have heard from plenty that if we start off shore drilling we could be getting our own barrels in 1 years time. But here is the other question, why can't we do both? We are already looking for alternative fuels and energy sources, so why can't we drill at the same time to alleviate the pain we are suffering? The mideast oil we rely on would certainly feel threatened and maybe even drop their prices if they thought for a second that the US was going to get it's own oil. But no this is all too simple. We have too many short sighted liberals who would love to see $8.00 a gallon gas force Americans to ride bicycles, drive up food prices and make people more dependent on government.
Massachusetts Lawmaker's Pledge to 'Rip Apart' Child Rape Victims at Trial Draws Fury

I was sick beyond words when I read about this story. First off it's more than a shame that the law didn't pass that would allow for the death penalty if someone is convicted of child rape. You are no longer a human in my opinion if you are willing to do this most heinous of crimes. No child or parent should ever have to endure this suffering at the hands of someone who has no regard for decency and what it means to be a member of a civil society. Nor do I feel that rehabilitation is possible with these people. Then comes this defense attorney who by all means should not be allowed to practice law if this is the kind of grand standing he would do in the face of such a serious crime. I understand the role of defense attorneys, but this is sick vile talk coming from someone who is supposed to be a defender of the public. There is doing your job and then there is crossing the line. He crossed the line and should not be let off the hook just because "this is what defense attorneys do". We aren't talking about lawsuits or petty crime, we are talking about abusing a child. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial, but this defense attorney would be unfair to the very children who may or may not have been abused. Even if a child were lying about an event surely the jury and any good attorney could find this out in the process of the trail without destroying the life of the child on the witness stand in the process.
Gallup Daily: Obama, McCain Tied at 45%

Just because I thought you might like to know. While McCain is not even close to the greatest GOP candidate, he is still better than Obama and with months to go it looks like we actually have a race....for now...
Andrew's random video for Thursday: Something a little different for today. I've been watching some of those National Geographic/Discovery Channel documentary shows about oil drilling lately, and it really is a fascinating process. I have a lot of respect for the people who do this for a living...
