Law shuts out some students

So the laws already in place that say most illegals can go to school are not enough? It's never enough is it? It will never be enough to satisfy those who feel that being in the country illegally is no big deal. It really is getting old and they keep using the paper and the media to keep pushing the same argument over and over. The vast majority want to see something done about the people in this country illegally and when I say get something done I mean deportation not amnesty. I do not feel sorry if someone cannot provide documentation and therefore can't get funds for college. I have to provide a SS#, proof of ID, smog cert, etc.. when I get a drivers license or register my car, if I don't have the right documentation I don't get to drive! This is not Americas fault as they always say that it is. People all have choices to make and the result of these choices are the sole responsibility of the individual, not the laws that restricted them.
Democrats Shrug Off Edwards' Affair, Paternity Questions
At Fridays screening of the movie 'Border' at Java Edge we were watching the "breaking news" coverage of the John Edwards affair. While thinking out loud I was saying, "no one cares," and pretty much everyone agreed. However, think about about what would have happened if he got the Democratic nomination or was Obamas VP pick. Nevertheless he didn't so it really is a non issue. Well it's a non issue as far as the election is concerned. It still is an issue and yet another sad commentary on the those who are running for office but really have no business doing so. Yes I am aware that infidelity isn't a disqualification from running in elections, but it is sad that it would seem that so many in elected positions just can't remain faithful. I think that it does call into question the character of an individual who is not capable of keeping his or hers marriage vows. Not to mention that Edwards gets the extra a-hole mention for the fact that his wife has been dealing with illness for years. Then there is that whole lying to the public that nothing was going on. So yeah it doesn't matter, unless you are thinking of running for office. In which case I would ask that I hope people are holding themselves to higher standard and we start holding those who are campaigning for our votes to a higher standard.
Report: Scientists Closer to Developing Invisibility Cloak

I just like seeing technology start catching up with sci-fi fantasy. Although did you ever notice that all the things that are usually always the standard in movies that are set in the near future are never the new things that we actually see developed. What I mean is that usually you see flying cars, motorcycles, rapid transportation, invisibility, laser guns etc..instead all of the major advancements that have been available to the public end up being, TIVO, IPODS, cell phone advancements and such. We still are nowhere near the next-gen automobile and we continue to search for an alternative fuel with no major advancements on the horizon. At least I will always have music available on a whim, I can be in almost instant contact with whomever I choose and I know I will never miss an episode of Wipeout.
'I Am Rich' iPhone App Removed After 8 Bought It

Am I the only one that thought this was cool? I could never afford it, but if someone could so what? What's the big difference between this, or a pimped out Escalade that gets 4 miles to the gallon, expensive jewelry or any other luxury that really only serves the purpose of showing to others how rich you are. Apple could have made all kinds of status symbol icons for the IPHONE. Maybe a little green tree for those that want to show they are environmentally conscious that could be offset by Carbon Credits or perhaps a little silver set of handcuffs that could symbolize you stole your IPHONE. Maybe even a red dollar sign to show that you're poor but still shelled out a ton of money for a fancy do it all phone.
Andrew's random video for Monday: I have 2 kids, ages 8 and 11, so I get to see a lot of today's kids shows. Over the weekend my wife, who works with special-ed children, was surfing around on YouTube looking for videos that would help her teach them basic counting, and she found this video from old-school Sesame Street. Man did it bring back some memories, and it really made me realize just how lame most of the kids programming is these days...
