PAPER: OBAMA MAY ANNOUNCE VP IN AM?

(From Drudge Report) The NYT newsroom was buzzing late Monday afternoon after Obama-beat reporter Jeff Zeleny learned how the Dem hopeful has finalized his choice for a running-mate. Obama has set out an elaborate roll-out to announce his decision that will begin with an early morning e-mail to supporters, perhaps as early as Tuesday, Zeleny has been told. Is it Nunn? Is it Kaine? Is Hillary there? What about Kerry?
Does it matter? Absolutely not. If Obama does roll out his VP I personally believe that the timing is intentionally set to take some of the heat off. Obama got beat handily on Saturday and he is currently still wounded from the Saddleback forum, so what better thing to do than deflect the negative by giving the media something else to talk about? The truth is Obamas VP will mean virtually nothing to his campaign. Obamas campaign will always just be about Obama and no one else. It's the hype they created and it's the hype they must stick to if he ever has chance to win this election. Yes that last statement gave off the the impression that McCain has the advantage and I believe he does. The polls may not show it and the media may not expose it, but Obama is heading towards defeat. The man has no leadership skills and Saturday was just the tip of the iceberg of what we can expect from the debates. Getting back to the VP pick for just a moment. While Obamas VP pick means next to nothing, if McCain picks a good strong conservative it could mean everything, including his winning this election by a landslide.
Bee's Bush visit cost taxpayers about $100,000

(Tim Bee will be joining us on the show at 7:30a Tuesday morning)
I just got a breaking news email from the Tucson Citizen and it was this story. I am the first one to hop on board the frivolous spending of taxpayers money in this town, but this is a little silly, yes I said silly. It was also silly when a few Republicans complained about Hillary Clintons visit several months ago and the security she needed when she spoke at the UofA.
We are talking about the President of the United States after all, I don't care how you feel about him, the office still deserves a level of respect by all. Some of the cost was covered by the Bee campaign and the other 3 groups for which the fundraiser benefitted. It was all done under the rules and guidelines that have been in place for years set by the White House for any President. What of all the talk of the tourism aspect of having Tucson in the news with the Presidents visit? How much is that worth anyway? Think of the tax revenue that was created by all the Democrats who went running out to Michaels Arts and Crafts to make their Anti-Bush signs. There is so much taxpayer waste already in this city that the paper never makes an issue about that to make this a "Breaking News" alert is really transparent to how they really feel. It's nothing more than the "Bush is Bad" mentality, and an opportunity to take a stab at Tim Bee to promote Gabby Giffords. Anytime the President visits a different city for whatever the reason it's just how it is for the city to cover some of the costs. If people actually end up getting upset over this I may just have to drop a few dollars of my own hard earned money Bees way just to say I paid my part above and beyond what I may or may not have paid in taxes. Nothing to see here, move along, move along.
Defense Official: Russia Has Short Range Missiles in South Ossetia

Russia continues to fly in the face of promises made to stop its efforts to destabilize Georgia. No matter what side of the argument you fall on as to who started this entire conflict, Russia by its very actions is showing everyone that they really don't care to be an ally of the US and don't care whether or not Georgia was justified in it's attempt to go after South Ossetia. The story has evaporated from most media reports and yet the people of Georgia who are our allies and fought along side our brave men and women in Iraq continue to fight for the freedom they deserve. I hope that in the face of Russian defiance President Bush will do what he has promised and defend the people of Georgia.
