BRAND NEW 09 "DRIVE HOME-WEBISODE"

Celebrate inauguration with Fitz T-shirts?

We keep reading stories about papers going under, cutting back and yes now even asking for bailouts. I wonder if this is the lifeline the AZ Star thinks will help save it from itself... Fitz custom Tees? I hope the readers of the paper do go out and buy these shirts. Then I hope they wear them around town with pride. That way we will be able to better identify those who actually think this paper has any credibility.  I may however have a tough time asking someone wearing the "Obama Inauguration" shirt if they were actually there on Jan 20th. Anyone asking this should expect the answer "Well no, but I was there in spirit!"  I wonder if Fitz would do a custom shirt for the rest of us that reads "I went to the Obama Inauguration and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt and President." Lastly, Fitz really needs to let Sarah Palin go already. Seriously, this is borderline obsessive. Does Fitz even realize we have other governors making news these days (Blago, Janet N, Brewer)?

Obama keeps silent on explosive Gaza conflict

Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, our expert on terrorism and Middle Eastern affairs will once again join the show to talk about the Israel/Gaza conflict. In the meantime our President-Elect is keeping his thoughts on the matter quiet. To be honest I have not decided yet whether or not I like this move by Obama. On the one hand he has no power to do anything about what is taking place in Gaza. On the other hand he was been so quick to hold press conference after press conference on other trivial matters that his silence on this seems out of character. The one facet to this issue that no one is talking about is this: No one really knows what Obama is going to say or do about the matter. Will he leave Israel to go it alone? Will he condemn the action all together? Will he support and provide aide to Israel? Will he condemn Israel and support the Palestinians and Hama?. I realize that last scenario is highly unlikely, however the truth is, we just don't know. This is probably my biggest grief and concern with PEBO (President Elect Barack Obama), we know nothing about the guy and what he will really do. If you can name any other President in recent memory that we knew so little about what his policies will be, please by all means email me and let me know. I think 2009 if anything should be looked at as one big question mark, because I have not a clue what is going to happen.

Andrew's random video for Monday: I have succumed to a clever advertising scheme, I admit it.  I do enjoy and appreciate a well done marketing venture that effectively drives people to a website to view more content or get more information, and these Dodge Ram Challenge ads did the trick for me... here's a sample:

Your top online stories of 2008

The show is back from vacation and not a moment too soon. While I enjoyed my time off it almost felt as if the local papers knew that I was off the air.  The Never Ending Parade of Stupid seemed to be just that, never ending. Needless to to say there is no shortage of issues that need to be talked about in the coming days and weeks. And while all eyes are looking forward, we do need to take a brief moment and look back at 2008. I laughed out loud in the story above when they just had to mention that our favorite Legal Attorney and Border Rights activist won 150K from some lame leftist organization while talking about the Joe Arpaio book signing protest. Yet they failed to mention that the only reason this was even a story was because of this very show. To a lesser extent the same could also be said about our extensive coverage and involvement in the controversy surrounding former TUSD teacher John Ward and his exposure of the Ethnic/La Raza Chicano Studies. In the end the Jon Justice Show and 104.1 The Truth was your #1 source for local and national coverage on the stories that mattered most to you. While we close the door on 08 and look cautiously towards the unknown in 2009, remember you always have a voice here and it starts today at 6am!

Rio Nuevo appears in peril at Legislature

I am very pleased to have as our first in studio guest of 2009, friend to the show and D30 State Representative Frank Antenori. The papers and city council seem to be a little concerned with the future of Rio Nuevo and they should be. While I will allow Frank to give his own view of what he thinks should happen, I personally feel that it's time to wipe the slate clean of the mess that has been made of downtown revitalization. It's been too long with too little accomplished and too much lack of transparency. Enough is enough and it's time that the local council members are put into a position where in they are forced to examine the way they have been conducting business. The local government continues to make the same mistakes and I believe have only proven that they will continue to make those same mistakes unless you take away their funding. We need a viable downtown, but it's time for a bold new fresh approach. Rio Nuevo is dead and it's time we stop kicking it around and trying to make it look alive like a scene from Weekend at Bernies.

TUCSON CHOICES
As we close this year out I just wanted to say thanks and provide a bright spot at the end of what has been a very frustrating year for many of us. First of all thanks for listening to the show and being a part of my day. You are the best audience I have ever had the privilege of talking to and I look forward to many more years of hosting here in Tucson. Above is a link to a fantastic local website. Many people in our community are just as concerned with the future of Tucson under its current leadership as you and I are. Next year we once again have the opportunity to make real changes in our local City Council and with our new leadership in Phoenix. The Jon Justice Show and 104.1 The Truth will continue to be your voice and provide you the opportunity to let your voice be heard. Thanks again for fantastic year of Rallies, Protests, Boycotts, Pinatas and Trollies. I am on vacation after Tuesdays show until Friday Jan 2nd. I will be shooting some "Vacation Webisodes" while I am out and I will be checking my email everyday. Merry Christmas and Happy NEW YEAR!

A few years ago while hosting a show in Grand Rapids Michigan I wrote this piece below and now I have made it my own personal holiday tradition to post it on the day of my last show before Christmas and the New Year..... Enjoy

-I wanted to to do something personal, something that maybe just maybe would let me recapture thoughs old holiday feelings, the Christmas spirit of my youth that I try so hard to hold onto. What for me IS Christmas? What for America is Christmas? What can people of all generations look at as a true piece of Americana that in one minute represents what Christmas is all about.......A Charlie Brown Christmas and Linus on stage explaining the true meaning of Christmas. In a time when every year Christmas....not the holidays.....Christmas comes harder and harder under attack to the point where the mere mention of Christ no longer demned oppororiate in reference to the very Holiday that is to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. When I look back and watch a simple cartoon of a young child on stage quoting from the bible the birth of Jesus to his friends I think "Its amazing they still allow this on TV". In todays PC world I dare say that no major network would have the guts to do what a Charlie Brown Christmas did, and that is to tell it as it was written. No CGI, no 5.1 surround sound, no HD, no celebrites. Just Linus a spot light and one of minute dialog to put it all in perspective. To take all the wrapping paper, all the Santas, all the sales, all the stress, and reduce it to rubble under the weight of the true orgins and reason for the season. "For unto is born today in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord". Even if you don't believe one would be hard pressed to not feel the power of the story of one child born to save the sins of man. Few times in American media have we got it right, few times have we taken the means to entertain and made it worth anything more than the dollar amount the advertisers spent on a :30 second commercial. For what its worth Coca Cola was the orginal sponsor of A Charlie Brown Christmas and over the years any product placement had to be edited out of the cartoon because other advertisers were upset. The fact that the mention of the Christ story has not been edited out of the cartoon as well for me is a testament to what a wonderful piece of American history a Charlie Brown Christmas is. Sure my wife may not understand why I hold such a fondness to the cartoon, why I still laugh and snoopy dancing Sheroders piano, why I my heart still goes out to Charlie Brown everytime he brings in that pathetic looking Christmas tree, but she still stops to sit down and watch that one minute of a child on stage with a spot like telling it like it is.....thats what Christmas is all about....

Skatepark near Tucson's Downtown nearly finished

Would you like to see an example of how things have gotten worse in the downtown area in the past 7 years? I give you the new Santa Rita Park.  The fact that this park is being built in an area that no one would consider putting a facility now is your shining example of not only how bad things have gotten, but just long it takes to get anything accomplished by our city. Seriously almost 7 years to get a concrete skatepark built. Apart from an ancillary lighting and plumping for bathrooms you are not talking about a very hard construction effort. Even with the length of time to build aside, I can't imagine anyone approving a place geared for kids to be built in an area that is now known for homeless and drug dealers. Someone on AZ Stars message board suggested that the park could be taken back? That may be all well and good, but I have to ask, by who? Are City Council sure aren't going to take any extra steps to clean up the area and right now our TPD doesn't have the time to deal with homeless while homicides increase and crime continues to grab ahold of our city. Hopefully the kids will be safe and this will be a benefit and not a danger. I am sure our Council members will make a big deal about the "Progress" this shows. However, if they do, then based off of how long it took them to do this project, don't expect Rio Nuevo to be anywhere near being finished until 2020, just in time for Rodney "How does this effect my political future" Glassman to run for the White House.

Gay groups upset with Obama's pastor choice for invocation

All things considered, while Obama has yet to take office, it would seem either his supporters were not paying much attention to his campaign or they are just now realizing that their expectations were a little too high. I actually think it's a little bit of both. People put an impression on Obama and expectation that he would be all things to all those on the left. Plus the lack of any other issues apart from the economy, Iraq/Iran and Joe the Plumber has created a climate of assuming Obama will be 100% for any particular cause just because none of it was all fully vetted.I believe that Obama will be more sensitive to gay rights than McCain would have been, however it would seem that a majority of moves he has made are moving more towards the middle than the left. (as middle as you can get being as far left as Obama is). With this outrage from the gay community I am wondering if Obama can live up to all the expections. At the same time Obama ran his whole campaign on Hope and Change so this should come as no surprise, especially Obama.

Stanton: New memorial for a real hero

Even someone as biased as Billie Stanton can't mess this story up. I joke, but in all seriousness there is something to be said that an Op-ed writer who 99% of the time I just can't relate to can do a fair piece. I think this, at least for me, speaks to the magnitude of the Erik Hite story and further reenforces the needs our officers have. I would like to see those like Billie or the AZ Star editorial staff who by and large were fair and honest about the tragedy of Officer Hite, take that reality and use it to support our officers. They are in dire need right now and deserve our support and respect. In regards to what friend to the show Lori and Kyle are doing with the memorial, it really does give me hope that future generations are learning the value of what our officers do and have an understanding of what a community really should be. I am very proud to say that both Kyle and Lori will be some of my first guests in the brand new studios on Monday morning.

FAIR: Federation for American Immigration Reform:

FAIR submitted the below letter to the Tucson Citizen in regards to everyone favorite legal defender and open border enthusiast Isabel Garcia.

To the Editor:
It’s not surprising that the Lannan Foundation has bestowed its Cultural Freedom Award on Isabel Garcia, along with a check for $150,000. Considering that past honorees have included Mahmoud Darwish, the chief propagandist for the PLO at a time when they were laying waste to Lebanon, and Robert Fisk, a virulently anti-American British journalist, Garcia seems like a natural for a Lannan award.
What is shocking is the “1 million thanks” that the Tucson Citizen adds to a woman who not only has devoted herself to attacking every effort to secure our borders and enforce laws against illegal immigration, but who has publicly incited violence (“Isabel Garcia: Compassion and courage earn reward,” editorial Dec. 13). Garcia’s radical views include holding the U.S. efforts to secure our borders responsible for the deaths of people attempting to break our laws.
At a time when the mere mention of problems associated with illegal immigration is denounced as “hate speech,” Garcia, a Pima County public defender, publicly engaged in a vile display of hatred against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio last summer. Garcia did not merely protest Sheriff Arpaio’s book-signing event in Tucson, but led the mob in a symbolic attack on an effigy of the man, and personally paraded around with the disembodied head.
It is one thing for the Tucson Citizen to take a strong position on U.S. immigration policy. It is quite another to heap praise on a woman who incites hatred and who has been singled out for an award by a foundation that seeks out those who are most vitriolic in their denunciations of America.

Dan Stein
President, Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)
Washington, D.C.

Sheriff Arpaio fails to submit budget-cut plan

There is no one like Joe and the mere fact that he says the budget cuts would put the people at risk is enough for me to say he continues to buck the trend in the right direction. Arpaio may be wrong and cuts may indeed need to be made, but personally I think he is doing the right thing by saying no and having everyone including himself take a second look at numbers. If anyone can find away to shave off tax payer dollars and make life harder for criminals its Joe. Go Joe!

BRAND NEW WEBISODE COMING TUESDAY AFTERNOON

What's Behind Internet Conspiracy Empires?

I'll tell you what is behind the majority of people who promote and buy into conspiracy theories, stupidity. People just seem to can't let some things go and essentially it ends up becoming the same reason people like to gossip and talk about rumors. Sometimes people just refuse to accept what they do not like and therefore grab on to a conspiracy theory to justify their inability to cope with the truth. Those on the left did this when they couldn't accept Bush won and they said he stole the election. The 911 Truthers do this because they have been duped into thinking that Pres Bush is evil and this is their best justification for their mentality that "Bush is Bad". Currently their are plenty of those who have bought into this thought that Obama was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. The courts keep rejecting this one left and right and you want to know why, that's because he was born in Hawaii. But just like Boortz said today, those people could see a video of Obama being born with Diamond Head in the back ground and they would still think it was fake....everyone remember Capricorn One right?

Trash Tells Thieves What You Got For Holidays

With the rising crime, attempted child abductions, car jackings etc.. I thought this was a good and simple reminder. Even for me, my son Kyle just turned 2 years old and we have packages from his birthday Friday that I was planning on putting out with the recyclables, but now will breakdown and bag up to avoid anyone knowing what we have behind locked doors. While the odds are that you will have a safe and crime free holiday, it's always good to remember to take that little extra step of personal responsibility knowing you have done your part.

104.1 THE TRUTH IS MOVING LOCATIONS!

We are planning on switching all of our broadcasting to our new studio at
7280 E. Rosewood St. in the next few days.
We will also have a NEW CALL IN PHONE NUMBER 751-1041..YES DELETE YOUR OLD PHONE NUMBER TO CALL IN AND CHANGE IT TO 751-1041.
While we hope it will be a smooth transition, sometimes problems can occur. If you hear anything strange happening with 104.1 The Truth in the next few days, understand it will be because of the move. This includes the station potentially being off air. We are planning on broadcasting the first Jon Justice Show live in the new studio later this week. However, we may not have our phones lines up and running and I also may not have access to my email during the show.
With that said, I need your help between now and Tuesday. Below I have posted links to stories I could be potentially talking about in the next few days. If you would like to comment on any story email me at justice@1041thetruth.com. Also, if you want to hear my opinion on any story feel free to email me the topic and story you would like me to talk about. I am simply trying to figure out ways to get your views out in the absence of phones. Be sure you put what story you are commenting on in the subject line.

Bio/History of Jon Justice:

Born and raised in Southern California I attended private Christian Schools from 5th grade through High School. I worked at age 18 as a record store manager. Right around when I turned 21 I left retail to go work as a public real estate auctioneer and property inspector in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties. One day, just after being chased off the lawn of a house going into foreclosure by a very large toothed dog who obviously had not been fed for awhile, I heard a commercial for the Academy of Radio Broadcasting. The rest is, as they say....history.

After graduating from the ARB I started as an intern and weekend air talent for Riverside San Bernardino station KCXX in late '95. I then left in '98 joining John Michael at Tucson AZ Alternative Rock KFMA. While at KFMA the Jon and John Show went #1 with our core audience. With this new found fame I was able to convince a promotions intern that I was the coolest guy on the planet and made her my wife. Yes I married an intern and even after she figured out I wasn't that cool Melinda still stayed with me.

In 2000 I returned to KCXX to team up with my still good friend Dick for the Dick and Justice Show. After reaching new highs and lows with bits like "Homeless Survivor" and "Dog in a Hot Car", Dick And Justice went #1 and posted the highest morning show ratings on KCXX. During this time my wife gave birth to our first son Logan Wedge.

In 2003 Dick and I accepted a job as afternoon show for Atlanta's WKLS 96Rock. While achieving some moderate success and hosting a night show on the now defunct FM Talk Real Radio 105.3 we fell victim to a station-wide decline in performance due an on air incident that got the successful morning show fired for airing inappropriate content. Dick and I exited WKLS late in 2004, after which Dick left the radio industry to join CNN.

In December 2005 I joined Grand Rapids MI Active Rock WKLQ as host of the Justice and Jim show. Once again reaching the masses with new lows like the now famous "Dog Drowning Hoax" in which I tried to bring to light the dangers of children drowning in local pools and lakes. Needless to say management mistakenly silenced me after the bit reached critical mass being covered not only on all local news outlets but major cable networks as well. A bit which was done to help educate and a make statement about how people need to pay more attention to child dangers, ended up making me look like an animal hating shock jock. (Of which I am niether, despite what some now think of me locally). After surviving the "Dog Hoax" in late 2005 (I was not fired for that bit, again despite what has been said in online circles) I found myself hosting the show solo as "Justice in the Morning". . That was until my agent made a deal with the company I worked for to put a syndicated show on several of its stations-including mine.....yes, my agent at the time essentially put me out of work. While I hated to lose my job, I was glad to leave WKLQ.

After serving a brief non-compete I was asked to join the #1 station in the market Newsradio WOOD as APD and fill in talk show host. I was given the job of fill in hosting on the stations two #1 live local shows The Grand Rapids Morning News and Rick and Scott (Both shows I have the utmost respect for). Also I was honored to be working on air the week of President Gerald R. Ford's passing, providing Grand Rapids the only live local call in show for 6 hours. During this time Melinda and I welcomed the birth of our second son Kyle Elliott on December 12 2006.

Just after the first of 2007 NEWSRADIO WOOD 1300 launched The Show with Justice Saturday afternoons.

It is now with great pleasure that I can be back in Tucson Arizona. On August 13th 2007 I started as host of my show "The Jon Justice Show" on 104.1 The Truth Tucson's News FM.

My passion has always been talk radio and I am pleased to finally be able to make a career in radio doing talk radio.

I was raised in a Reformed Presbyterian Christian household. I am happy to carry these beliefs with me still today and to be able pass them along to my wife and children Logan Wedge and Kyle Elliott.

I believe:
-I am not better than you the listener, just lucky enough to have a microphone and you don't
-Republicans get it right most of the time
-Democrats get it wrong most of the time
-If you are a liberal that's alright, everyone can change
-We need more God and less government
-We need more honesty and less political correctness
-The Ten Commandments and the Constitution are not mere "suggestions"
-There is reason why the "War on Terror" is called a WAR
-Freedom and democracy don't happen without a fight and they don't happen over night
-If you think you know how war will play out, you're very confused.
-If you're upset about soldiers that die during war, how mad are you about the homeless guy downtown that starved to death last night, the roll over crash that killed 3, or the winter storm that leveled a home and killed a family.
Death happens and our soldiers are fighting for your right to live free.
-We will win the war in Iraq and the war on Terror, but not without the FIGHT
-The media reports what they think you want to hear and unfortunately most of us are too stupid to care
-The most important things in my life are God, my wife and children, my family and my Job
-My father is my mentor and best friend next to my wife and sons
-The most enjoyment I get from TV comes in the form of NASCAR racing, Star Wars movies on DVD, and 24 the TV Series
-If I want to laugh then Spinal Tap, Monty Python and Judd Apatow movies will fill the need
-Depeche Mode is the most underrated band ever
-Dale Jr drives better than you...go #88, go JR!
-Pizza is greatest meal on the planet
-If I need a drink an Orange AMP energy drink will do. If I need something with a little more kick, Captain Morgans and Diet Pepsi will do the trick.
