Man arrested in death of his roommate

TUCSON(KGUN9-TV) - Police identify the man who was found dead in his home earlier this week. 

 

Tucson police responded to a residence in the 1900 block of west Nava on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 28 after a report of a dead man inside the home, according to Sgt. Maria Hawke with the Tucson Police Department. 

Hawke tells KGUN9 that 67-year-old William Salamonsen was discovered by a Constable who was visiting the residence in order to serve the tenants eviction paperwork.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin an investigation because the cause of death was unknown. Dectectives however noticed that Salamonsen's body had obvious signs of trauma.
 
The Medical Examiner later conducted an autopsy of Salamonsen's body and ruled his death a homicide.
 
Police located and interviewed the other resident of the home, 55-year-old David Gallagher. 
 
After collecting evidence at the scene, Gallagher was was arrested on one count of second-degree murder and booked into the Pima County Jail.
