Man pulls gun on patron while trying to steal sandwich

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man was arrested Monday night after he pulled a gun on a patron at a Circle K after trying to steal a sandwich.
Police responded to the Circle K at 2802 North Stone Avenue at 11:30 p.m. Monday after someone called to report that a man had a gun, according to a release from the Tucson Police Department.
The release says that a man entered the store and grabbed a sandwich and drink and attempted to leave without paying for the items.
A customer witnessed this and attempted to stop the suspect at the front door, according to the release.
The release says that the man then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the customer and threatened to shoot him. The man then left the area on a bicycle.
Shortly after police responded, they located the man, 39-year-old Richard Smith, at a nearby Circle K at 2701 north Oracle Road.
According to the release, the handgun was located in a trash can where Smith was standing. Smith was charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.
